Brunch or Lunch in Calgary

OEB Breakfast Co.

Calgary is a brunch mecca and you really can’t go wrong with all the great selection we have in town. At OEB they have an incredible menu where everybody can find something that satisfies their cravings whether it is savoury or sweet. Most come for their ‘Soul in a Bowl’ but I prefer their Waffles. Fluffy and soft, they’re perfect topped with choice of fruit and a mountain of whipped cream.

Monki Bistro

People will gladly line up for a seat at Monki Bistro for their famous Brisket Hash or an Eggs Benny done Monki style. For those that are anxious to get caffeinated, Monki also provides patrons free coffee while they wait, which is a necessity at times with Calgary’s brisk weather.

Avenue Deli

There’s a great little place called Avenue Deli in Marda Loop that serves up some delicious east coast styled sandwiches and old fashioned milkshakes. The Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich is stacked high with tender and flavourful brisket. Order the full cut with a malt shake to really get the deli experience.

Anju Restaurant

Fusion has become a juggernaut in the food industry over the last few years and although a lot of places attempt it there are few that have succeeded like Anju. Known for their Korean spin on classic dishes, the use of Asian spices and gochujang has brought their menu to another level. The Oxtail Tortellini is a must when eating here.

Posto Pizzeria & Bar

Pizza is fairly easy to find around the city, however great pizza is what we covet. At Posto, their dough is truly the star of their pizza. Thin and crispy while maintaining a soft and chewy texture. It’s hard to pick from all their amazing toppings but a continual fan favourite is the Potato and Leek Pizza.

GreekTown Kitchen

Traditional Greek food is all about honouring the ingredients and allowing them to shine through. This is exactly what’s exemplified at GreekTown. The food here is delicious, the portion sizes are amazing and the staff is always friendly. I can never get enough of their tzatziki sauce which has amazing garlic flavour. Plus their mixed grill is everything a meat lover would want on a plate.

Vin Room - Mission

Wine bars have brought an interesting way of tasting and sampling wine to new heights. Instead of choosing only one wine for the evening, you have the ability to taste all the ones that may have peaked your interest. The ambiance and food also sets Vin Room apart. Whether you’re there for their tapas style menu or just for a sip of wine, they do it right.

Manuel Latruwe Belgium Patisserie & Bake Shop

Located in the same building as Bernard Callebaut, is a well-known Belgium bakery, Manuel Latruwe. Open since 1998, they continue to serve up amazing take home treats from flakey croissants to delectable cakes. They also offer dine in dishes, my favorite being the Belgium Waffle topped with strawberries and some powdered sugar. They’re not the typical fluffy style American waffle, but thin, crisp and light better known as the Brussels Waffle and they make for a perfect snack.

Shikiji Japanese Noodles & Sushi

There’s nothing more comforting than an incredible bowl of noodles. It is the quintessential Asian comfort food. At Shikiji they make their own ramen noodles in house which definitely elevates each bowl. My favorite go to is the Chili Goma Ramen with a thick sesame based broth and topped with lots of shitake mushrooms, bamboo shoots and pork.
