Seedy Saturdays (and Sundays)
Spring is on its way (in theory anyway) and that means Seedy Saturdays and Sundays will start popping up across the country. If you have ever wanted to grow your own food in your backyard or on your patio or in a pot on your windowsill, this is a great way to get started!
Toronto's annual Seedy Saturday and Sunday at the Evergreen Brick Works this weekend and they'll be helping to equip local food lovers with enough material and know-how to stock their homes with home-grown veggies and herbs and local Ontario food. Independent gardeners will trade seeds native to Ontario while local vendors sell equipment and host workshops on the origins of plants and how to grow them. The Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Fair will be there to teach everything there is to know about supporting Ontario growers and producers and investing in personal deliveries of seasonal and local foods (vegetables, meat and dairy will all be covered). Visitors will be ready to support the local food economy and savour delicious seasonal foods, all in one weekend.
