No matter how you feel about it, we're on the run up to Christmas here in Canada. Sometimes, I envy the Americans and their late Thanksgiving, if only because it seems to stretch out the fall a little longer.
And with that, our first news item this week...
The Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap
Laura posted some questions in our forum about Cookie Swaps last week. One in particular, hosted by Lindsay from Love and Olive Oil and Julie of The Little Kitchen, cookie swap is open to Canadian food bloggers. How does it work? Well, you can read all the details on Lindsay's post but the basics are, you have until November 15th to sign up, you'll receive the addresses of 3 other participants by November 21st and you need to have your cookies in the mail by December 5th.
You will be matched up with other Canadian bloggers in order to keep shipping costs low and eliminate customs issues. And according to Julie, they're closing in on 500 participants and there's a good Canadian contingent on board! So if you're looking for a few new cookies to try out this holiday season, this could be a fun way to go about and make some new friends at the same time!
Lindsay has also added a great post with tips to package and ship your cookies which might be useful to all of us this time of year!

We're working to put together an ultimate Canadian Food Bloggers gift guide post for December and we'd love to hear what food or drink related items you're coveting this year. Be it big or little, extravagant or utilitarian, novelty or practical, we'd love to add it to the list. You can send us your wish list item through our contact form. If you can include a link to the item, that would be great as well. Get us your item by November 30th and we'll include it in our post along with a link back to your blog!
