In January, FBC partnered with Summer Fresh when they launched their new fresh sauces in 5 amazing flavours with a great offer for our members to try the sauces and create an original recipe. Made will all natural ingredients and no added preservatives, they are available in the Meat Department of all Loblaws grocery stores in the Maritimes, Quebec and Ontario. Fresh Sauces can be used as marinades, stir-fry sauces, finishing sauces and for crock-pot cooking!
Thirteen FBC members (My Cookbook Addiction, Life on Manitoulin, Clockwatching Tart, Tasty D, Kitchen Frolic, Tasty Gardener, MBA Mama Musings, Winged Snail, La Cuisine d'Hélène, Glorious Eats, Maya's Kitchen, Kelly Neil and Eat Halifax) took the challenge. Summer Fresh would like to thank each and every one of them as they were truly blown away by the creativity of the recipes, incredible writing and amazing food photography on the part of all the bloggers. In order to pick a winner, they actually prepared all of the yummy recipes in their test kitchen and then had staff taste them! It was "really tough, as they were all fabulous and truly delicious."

Kelly says: Something I’ve learned, during my years spent in the restaurant industry, is how important it is to taste, taste, taste everything!! When my large white cooler arrived from Summer Fresh, I excitedly lined up each of the five Fresh Sauces, and then opened and tasted them, one by one. As I tasted, I made notes – notes about what I liked, what I smelled, and the imagery that came to mind as the flavours mingled in my mouth. When I tasted the Butter Chicken Fresh Sauce I knew I didn’t want to stray too far from the name of the sauce, and yet still wanted to create something new. With the gorgeous flavours of fennel seed and cardamom, and the addition of basmati rice and crunchy sunflower seeds, this is a new spin on a beloved classic that’s quick and easy to put together any night of the week.

I think you made a wonderful choice of picking Kelly as this year’s winner of the Summer Fresh contest.
