Every week we pull together some great Canadian recipes from Canadian food bloggers around the web featuring one main ingredient or dish. This week we're featuring pear recipes - specifically sweet pear desserts.

Collage of pear desserts

Pears - they're one of Canada's most underrated fruits. But these luscious fall delights are a Canadian treasure that are equally at home in sweet or savoury dishes. You'll find them growing in BC's Okanagan Valley, southern Ontario and Nova Scotia - they're available from coast to coast!

Today we're focusing on sweet pear dessert recipes that let this autumn fruit shine. From rustic galettes to decadent Dutch Babies, Indian pear fudge to delicate poached pears, there's something for everyone.

Try a pear shortcake (with pear coconut ice cream) or a pear and mincemeat crumble cake. Add them to an over the top pear and amaretto trifle or bake them with a sumptuous cardamom cream. And of course, there's always a class pear pie because what's fall without pie?

You'll be wishing Canadian pears were around all year long!
