Every week we pull together some great Canadian recipes from Canadian food bloggers around the web featuring one main ingredient or dish. Sage conjurs up thoughts of autumn and winter comfort food. Here's some delicious sage recipes to try in your kitchen.
Sage is an herb that shines in fall and winter recipes. You might only be familiar with it in your turkey stuffing at Thanksgiving and if that's the case, you need to check out our Spice Primer on Sage (did you know sage is actually part of the mint family?) because sage has so many culinary uses that are delicious.
It does indeed team up beautifully with poultry but it's also wonderful paired up with pork and even lamb. Not a meat eater? Well, sage is also a good partner with root vegetables and squash.
One thing to note with sage... a little can go a long way. Especially when it's fresh sage. This is why so many recipes call for it to be fried or otherwise cooked. Sage also holds up to long cooking times, unlike some other herbs, so it's great for dishes that simmer - like soups and stews!
So if you've got lots of sage from your garden or CSA and aren't sure what to do with it, or you've just always wondered how to cook with it, or you love sage and can't get enough of it, here's 10 delicious ways to cook with sage!
