We could all stand to eat more fruits and veggies on a daily basis which is why we've teamed up with Half Your Plate, a new initiative to get Canadians incorporating more fruits and veg into their diets. And it doesn't have to be that hard - simply fill half your plate with veggie and fruit goodness at every meal or snack!
Mushrooms
Every month Half Your Plate focuses on one fruit and one vegetable. March is all about mushrooms and papayas!
Did you know how much good stuff is packed into those little mushrooms? They're a great source of selenium, vitamin C, potassium and calcium. Can't eat dairy? Try adding an extra serving of mushrooms to your diet on a regular basis!
**Mushroom Tip: Here's a great mushroom tip for working with mushrooms: mushrooms will absorb any liquid they touch so avoid washing them! Instead, brush them with a damp cloth to get them clean.

Papayas
Papayas are a fantastic way to get your Vitamin C. One serving gives you 157% of your daily recommended intake! It's also a good source of folacin and fiber.
**Papaya Tip: You can ripen green papayas by popping them in a paper bag and leaving them on the counter for a day or two. Here are more ways to choose, store and prep papayas.
