42 million.

As of 2013, that was the number of children around the world who were under the age of 5 AND overweight or obese.

By 2030, it’s predicted that 41% of the world population will be overweight or obese.

Let that sink in.

Now let's do something about it. Read below and signing one petition that will take you about 10 seconds will change lives.

And it's because of that epidemic that Jamie Oliver and his team reached out to Food Bloggers of Canada. There is already a plan in the works to change the course of history but it will have to be accomplished through teamwork.

42 million. That's 42 million kids who are more likely to be diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and simply have to deal with more health issues than kids from previous generations. Worldwide obesity has doubled since 1980 which makes it truly an epidemic in the most real sense of the word. It may not warrant the type of attention that something far more dangerous like an airborne disease would receive but it's no less important. And guess what, it's preventable! With your help, we can be that difference for millions of children.

Food Revolution Day_1273

Everyone's favourite chef Jamie Oliver has been championing food education for years through Food Revolution Day, this year being May 15. And in 2015, the campaign has never been more critical to the future of children everywhere! Jamie has launched a global-wide petition to persuade the governments of G20 countries to provide children around the world with the basic right of food education within their schools. Equipped with the knowledge of where food comes from, how to grow it, cook it and how it affects their bodies, children everywhere can be in better control of their lives. To learn how to get involved in Food Revolution Day in your neighborhood, visit here.

Jamie's campaign centers around a petition in which we can give children a voice and a chance for a better life. By signing it, the G20 will have to address this epidemic. As food lovers, food bloggers, influencers, parents, uncles, aunts, cousins and part of the human race, we owe it to ourselves and each other to sign this petition.

With a goal of millions of signatures, the 700,000 mark has already been surpassed which is amazing but we can do better! The more people who sign it, the more likely the G20 is to take this matter seriously and enact real change.
