It's that time of year again. Yes, it's December already. And the holiday celebratory season is getting into full swing. It's the merriest time of year, after all!

Gift shopping, cookie baking, traveling to Grandmas’ house, and who can forget all the parties — family, friends, office, school — it can all get a bit dizzying.

With trying to remember your entertaining schedule, who has time to think about what wine to serve?

Red and white for Santa Clause, and bubbly for good cheer, here are a few crowd-pleasing Canadian wine picks to help plan the busy holiday entertaining season ahead.

Sibling Rivalry Red ($14) — Have a little fun with your family gathering with this cheeky wine label! When hosting a large family gathering it's the perfect pairing for a crowd-pleasing lasagna or tomato based pasta dish.

Angels Gate Pinot Gris ($15) — The complex flavours of this Pinot Gris, beautiful honey and rose aromas, and pale straw colour will show your family just how much you appreciate them this holiday season. With a nice balance of fruit and acidity and a full body, this Ontario Beamsville Bench Pinot Gris is an excellent food companion.

Friends & Good Cheer

Meyer Family Vineyards Gewürztraminer ($18) — Push off the holiday season with friends and this lively and fun Gewürztraminer. The aroma of this wine is a mix of orange peel and a slight spicy note; very festive! There's a slight bitterness to this wine that makes it very food friendly. Pairs well with strong and aged cheeses, pork charcuterie, all Asian cuisines and spicy hors d’oeuvres.

Church & State Lost Inhibitions Red ($17) — When talking friends, good cheer and Canadian wine, include Church & State’s Lost Inhibitions. This juicy red blend with intense fruit flavours, soft tannins and velvety mouthfeel will complement most foods. And with over 100 unique labels this bottle will surely be a conversation starter.

Malivoire Ladybug Rosé ($17) — Beautifully fragrant with fresh red berries and a slight herbaceousness, this wine will have your neighbours offering to shovel for you in gratitude! This  Niagara blend of Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir and Gamay grapes will pair well with hors d’oeuvres, mild cheeses and pizza.

Long Weekend Cabernet ($14) — For when the holiday season can seem like one long, long weekend, this medium bodied red blend from Ontario will keep all your neighbourhood friends in good cheer! This wine works well with roasted red meats, but is just as delicious poured without food.

Christmas Eve & Turkey Dinners

Perseus Pinot Noir Rosé ($23) — Turkey with all the trimmings can be a rich meal. To balance out the richness of your holiday meal, consider this very dry Rosé with lively acidity a prefect match. Plus the acidity and dryness of the wine will be mouth-watering, which is perfect for moistening that turkey in your mouth.

L’Acadie Vineyards Prestige Brut ($50) — Add some Canadian sparkle to your holiday celebrations with certified organic bubbly from Nova Scotia. Whether toasting friends and family at holiday parties, your Christmas dinner or ringing in the New Year, there's no better way to celebrate than with a glass of sparkling wine!
