Name: Marianne Bloudoff, RD
Blog name and URL: French Fries To Flax Seeds http://frenchfriestoflaxseeds.com/
Where were you born? New Westminster, BC
Where are you living now? Vancouver, BC
Why did you start your blog? I was searching for recipes online one day, and came across a food blog. I had no idea people even wrote blogs about food, but figured I could do it just as well as they could, so why not start one?
How did you decide on your blog name? Honestly, I can’t even remember. I just wanted something catchy that used alliterations
What do you blog about? Food! Recipes, product reviews, restaurants, events, nutrition, dietetics, and anything else food related that floats my boat. And my cat.
What post are you most proud of and why? My post titled More Than Just A Pot Of Soup. I documented my Grandpa’s recipe for Doukhobor Borscht, and shared a bit of family history in the process.
The photos are horrible as I wrote it when I first started blogging (and subsequently reposted it with better photos here. It’s a little piece of my childhood that I was glad to have shared.
Which post do you wish received more love and why? My post titled Beet It featuring the recipe for my Dill Beet Hummus. Everyone I make this hummus for raves about it, yet it just doesn’t get the love in the blog world. View it, make it, tell me how it goes! The beets deserve better!
Which post’s success surprised you and why? My post titled “The No Blender Required Smoothie”. Who knew there were so many people without blenders who wanted to make smoothies?
What is one (non-kitchen) gadget you can’t live without? My smartphone. And my cat.
What is one kitchen gadget you can’t live without? I want to say my Blendtec Blender, but realistically, I would have to go with my Wusthof knives. Good knives are a must!
Favourite food, care to share a recipe? Sushi, duck, seafood, anything with chocolate and peanut butter…like my Ultimate Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies.
What else should we know about you that may or not be in your “About Me” page? This one time, at band camp…just kidding, I’ve never been to band camp. I have an strange love of penguins, I’m currently obsessed with Candy Crush Saga (who isn’t?!), and I have a growing artisanal gin collection. Oh, and I’ve never broken a bone (knock on wood).
What makes your blog unique? My west coast, laid back attitude and sarcastic sense of humour. And my cat.
