Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Whether you celebrated yesterday or today or all three days, we hope you are taking some time out to be thankful. We live in a truly bountiful country and when many in the world are wondering where their next meal will come from, us food bloggers not only have enough to eat, but the luxury to be able to write about it, style it and photograph it. When you think about it in those terms, it's very humbling.
Cook For The Cure Culinary Showdown
You may have noticed, we've gone pink. Actually, we've gone Raspberry Ice in honour of KitchenAid's Cook for the Cure Culinary Showdown in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. FBC is a proud sponsor of this once-in-a-lifetime fundraising effort to help realize a world without breast cancer. We're calling for all FBC members to take part of this worthy cause AND because you have the chance to cook alongside chefs Lynn Crawford, Chuck Hughes, Mark McEwan, Vikram Vij, Corbin Tomaszeski and Tyler Florence. You can make a difference and also give yourself an incredible experience!
Halloween Roundup
We had so many great posts come in for our Thanksgiving roundup that we had to split it into two! So this week, we're taking submissions for our Halloween roundup! Send a link to your scariest, creepiest post full of ghouls, ghosts and goblins, along with an image 620px wide, to Melissa by 5pm PT, October 25th and we'll feature it on October 29th in our roundup. Posts can be recipes, restaurant outings, or entertaining.
World Vision Spark
In the spirit of giving and giving thanks, Deidre from Just a Pinch of Ginger asked us to share the World Vision Spark Program she is involved with along with the Yummy Mummy Club. The #meetafamily project pairs Canadian families with families in developing countries to help "spark" a difference in their lives. You can learn more in Deidre's post here.
Action Against Hunger (Toronto & Montreal)
Starting on World Food Day, select restaurants in Toronto and Montreal are asking food lovers to help fight child malnutrition around the world. Love Food? Give Food! brings the issue of child hunger to the dining tables of more than 20 restaurants in support of Action Against Hunger / Action contre la Faim (ACF). Guests can add a voluntary donation to their bill to help ACF end child malnutrition and its root causes in vulnerable communities in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. Celebrate your love of food while helping to save lives around the world.
