Name: Julie Albert & Lisa Gnat

Blog name: Bite Me More

Where were you born? Toronto

Where are you living now? Toronto

Why did you start your blog?

After the successful launch of our first and second cookbooks (Bite Me, Bite Me Too), we were looking for a way to connect with our “Biters” and continue to serve up food (and fun) that answers the age-old question, “What’s for dinner?”

What do you blog about?

In addition to original food and drink recipes that cover everything from soup-to-nuts, we’re here to get you out of hot water with cooking and entertaining tips and tricks, as well as keep your finger on the pulse of food trends.

Is your blog your business, your hobby or something in between?

Bite Me More is our business and our passion – we’re lucky to be working together and loving it! Lisa does all the recipe development while Julie does the writing and look of all we do.

What post on your blog most encapsulates you and why?

Our Top 10 30-Minute Dinner Recipes is definitely one that reflects us – with 6 hungry teenagers between us, we’re always grateful to have these fast and easy crowd-pleasers at our fingertips.

Which post do you wish received more love and why?

We don’t think everyone knows how easy it is to make your own scrumptious hummus – our Top 5 Hummus Recipes (can you say, Greek hummus?) shows how simple it is to think outside the premade container.

Which post’s success surprised you and why?

It’s clear to us that we aren’t the only ones that don’t love our houses smelling like onions when guests are coming over – these natural ways to have your house smell amazing have been a lifesaver for us and our readers.

What’s your biggest challenge as a blogger?

With technology changing at the speed of light, we’re always adjusting on the fly to stay ahead of trends.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned as a blogger?

Just one? One of the keys to success is having ongoing dialogue with your followers and being responsive on a daily basis.

Share a couple of your favourite food blogs to read. Why do you like them?

Apart from the obvious (FBC), we love checking out what the following bloggers are up to, what eye candy they’re serving up and what great ideas they’re dishing on:

Favourite food - care to share a recipe or a restaurant destination?

Definitely our Chunky White Chocolate Cranberry Cookies – not only did these cookies start our culinary journey, but are also so delish they’ve been used as currency – it’s this cookie that opened the doors in helping us get Jon Bon Jovi and Jason Alexander to endorse Lick Your Plate, our most recent cookbook.

What are you working on next for your blog?

In the deep freeze, we’re so happy to already be thinking about summer cocktails – it’s always 5 o’clock somewhere, right?

What else should we know about you that may or not be in your “About Me” page?

Lisa’s dream is to break bread with Chef David Chang while Julie’s is to share a meal with The Silver Fox, aka Anderson Cooper.

What makes your blog unique?

We’re sisters who love to laugh together – we’re also pop culture junkies so we love to bring humour, music, tv and movie references into the kitchen.

What part of the FBC site do you find most useful?

We love the FBC recipe roundups – they inspire us, make us drool and introduce us to fellow Canadian food bloggers.
