Every week we pull together some great Canadian recipes from Canadian food bloggers around the web featuring one main ingredient or dish. This week, FBC members got their chocolate game on and shared 24 gooey, crunchy and delectable recipes using chocolate chips!

24 Recipes for Chocolate Chips

One of the best "surprises" to find in a bite of any dessert is that crunchy, sometimes almost melted, little piece of chocolate-heaven we have come to know as a chocolate chip.

The teardrop-shaped chunks of chocolate tend to be difficult to hide. However, since they are usually scattered within cookies, muffins, and pancakes, whenever one finds one it feels like a tiny, pleasant surprise.

Back in the day -that is, 1937 when Ruth Graves Wakefield of the Toll House Inn in Massachusetts came up with the idea of chocolate chip cookies-, the delectable nuggets did not have their current shape and were just cut-up chunks of a semi-sweet Nestlé chocolate bar.

Wakefield's cookies became so famous that the Swiss company offered her a lifetime supply of chocolate in exchange for her recipe and the licence to add it to their chocolate bar's packaging. The rest is history.

Who hasn't used these scrumptious morsels in a dessert? Or a granola bar? Or even in a smoothie? The best part is that they have even evolved and now we can find them in flavours like bittersweet chocolate, peanut butter, and butterscotch. Yum!

Want some ideas on creative ways to add chocolate chips to your desserts that aren't just chocolate chip cookies? We have 24 chocolate chip recipes that will make them the stars of your next confection.
